Our 4th of July

Our 4th of July

We had the BEST day celebrating the 4th as a family and Collin and I seriously stopped multiple times and said to each other "this is just the best!" ... the kids were happy, we had a packed day that still felt mostly relaxing and there's just something about country music, cold beverages, swimsuits (even if you are feeling like a beached whale, ahem...) and fireworks that's just really good for the ol' soul.

We started off the morning meeting up with some friends for a starbucks & donut date (at this point, the day is already won) and then walked across the street to the park for a little bit of batting practice (because, #america). Baylor walked off the field feeling extra confident after a few good hits and the girls were extra dirty after pretending they were sunbathing in the baseball field.

We came home for naps, I baked (rice krispies & monster cookies) & packed all the necessities while the kids slept (praise Jesus), and we took off for the lake as soon as their little eyes popped open! We traditionally spend the 4th with some friends who live on the lake and this year was no different. Hotdogs, sunscreen covered kids and more than a million ways & friends to keep them busy.

Fireworks didn't start until 9:30 and Winnie was a total pile of mush by that time, but magically rallied to watch the fireworks. We didn't make it home until almost 11, and because I'm super OCD mom, I made everyone get in the bath before bed to wash off all of the festivities. They were asleep in .1 milliseconds and slept way in this morning - so I guess what I'm saying is that we're going to start staying out until 11 pm more often ;) haha jokes.

It was a really perfect holiday and our last one as a family of 5! Baby Hen is coming in the next couple weeks and the reality is hitting over here. Everyone is so excited and has questions upon questions. Baylor wants to know how soon the baby will say "hi" and Bellamy is already concerned she won't be able to hold the baby enough (middle child probs). Winnie just wants to make sure nobody is going to take her snacks (a notion I can totally relate to! ;)

Hope you're recovering today! We're spending the day in the pool just taking it easy

PS... Come back tomorrow for a super fun giveaway with some of our newborn necessities!!
